After a full day hiking, we wisely chose to head to our favorite watering hole in the Southwest . . . The Dam Bar and Grill for brews, Brewers, Lions, Tigers and Bears. Oh my.

October 10 . . . A Dam nice view and bar.
After hiking Waterholes Canyon, we stopped at the Horseshoe Bend overlook, which required a 6 furlong slog in the sand. But once again, it was worth every sandy step. This view of the Colorado River confirmed that we needed to get our kayaks down into Glen Canyon and paddle from the Dam to Lee’s Ferry.

Is anyone else surprised that John D. Lee still gets a place named after himself in these political correct times. Okay enough politics until we post about the Navajo Power Station. It does not appear that Columbus Day is a holiday in the Navajo Nation.

Very surprising to hear about John D. Lee having a place named after him....especially when it is that close to the site of the Mountain Meadows Massacre.
ReplyDeleteI've only seen pictures of this place, would love to visit in person someday....
